Dzeko starts

Edin Dzeko made his debut for City Saturday, starting in attack with Carlos Tevez and Andrew Johnson. Dzeko looked decent assisting on the Yaya Toure goal. Carlos Tevez is still the man at Eastlands, and the striker you want in fantasy.

Tevez tallies two more

Carlos Tevez took his league total to 14 this season with two more Saturday in the 4-3 win over Wolverhampton.  Tevez looks like a good bet to lead the Premiership in goals, don’t worry about Edin Dzeko hurting his fantasy value.

Bentley starts

David Bentley started on the right side of midfield in his Birmingham City debut.  Bentley played well, and immediately started taking corners and free kicks.  He has been a fantasy asset in the past, but does not have a great price tag in most leagues.  Birmingham forwards have only scored 5 league goals this season, which limits Bentley’s chance to pick up assists.

Ivanovic has big day

Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic recorded a goal, an assist and a clean sheet Saturday.  It was a great fantasy week for the Serbian, who is a top flight fantasy defender.  Expect Chelsea to get the backline together after a lull in form, which will mean plenty of clean sheets.

Two goals for van Persie

Robin van Persie appears to be back to full form after scoring twice and hitting a post in the 3-0 win over West Ham.  The Dutchman missed much of the season due to injury, but has taken back his starting role spearheading Arsene Wenger’s 4-3-3.  Its time to add him in fantasy.

Odemwingie scores brace

West Bromwich forward Peter Odemwingie scored twice, including the winner, in a 3-2 win over Blackpool Saturday.  Odemwingie now has 8 goals on the season, and is a nice fantasy option for the rest of the season.

Vermaelen to have surgery

Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen will have surgery on his ankle, ensuring he will be off the pitch for another six weeks.  A March return is possible, until then Laurent Koscielny figures to be the beneficiary in terms of fantasy value.  He seems to be top of the depth chart ahead of  Sebastien Squillaci and Johan Djourou.

Nolan scores 10th

Newcastle midfielder Kevin Nolan scored his 10th league goal in Sundays 1-1 draw with local rivals Sunderland.  Nolan was in midfield today, but often plays as a second forward with Andy Carroll.  Nolan is a great fantasy option for the rest of the season.

Gyan hits late equalizer

Asamoah Gyan secured a draw for Sunderland against Newcastle in the 90th minute.  Gyan now has 7 league goals despite irregular playing time.  Danny Welbeck should return from injury in a week or two which further clouds Gyan’s situation.  Regardless, he appears to have good value as a depth forward in fantasy.
